Firm Plans Export Processing Zones at Airports

Airlines services and logistics plc, has announced plans to establish export processing zones at the at the nation's airport as part of its divestment measures.
Specifically, the company has concluded plans to process Nigerian foodstuffs for export through its operational base at Murtala Muhammed International Airport.

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Export Processing Zones Authority (NEPZA), Dr Sina Agboluaje, at the weekend described free trade zones as major vehicles to drive the economic development of the country.

Also the Chief Executive Officer, Airline Services and Logistics Plc (ASL) Mr Richard Akerele, reiterated the need for Nigeria to increase  its non-oil export base over the coming years in order to successfully diversify the economy.

The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) has created a new sector in its daily official list, the Airline services sector and admitted 634 million shares of Airline Services & Logistics Plc (ASL) at N4 per share into this sector.

The NSE also reclassified, the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company Plc into the sector, as a result of its similarity with the newly created sector. This new listing, automatically increased the number of listed equities at the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE), as it rose to 208 from 202 securities recorded at the beginning of the year.
